What is Reading Dragons and Friends?

Reading Dragons and Friends is a fun way to motivate children and adults to build positive reading habits. Patrons of all ages can join. This program rewards participants for time spent reading. Everyone is encouraged to read at their own pace, strengthen reading skills, and make time to read regularly.

Reading Dragons and Friends are collectible cards featuring mythical creatures like dragons, unicorns, griffins and more. Participants track the time they spend reading in 30 minute increments to earn cards. Play games with the cards and try to collect them all!

How to join Reading Dragons and Friends at Mohawk Community Library?

Visit Mohawk Community Library to register and receive a starter pack of cards and a reading tracker. Start reading to earn up to 4 sets of cards a month. The program runs September through April.

Who started Reading Dragons and Friends?

The program was developed at Dover Public Library by Librarians Liz Strauss and Mallory Thompson. It has grown from the collaborative efforts of creative librarians from all over.
